A film’s soundtrack carries so much of its emotional weight.
We spend hours searching for the right song for each story we create. Sometimes we find something almost perfect, but one instrument shifts the feel, or the musical arc never quite reaches the moment the story needs.
Composing music specifically for a film gives us the freedom to shape those details around the story.
Nate Harrisonn, of Shore 3 Studios, has been editing our recent film for the California Distillers Association, in partnership with Solterra Strategies, while simultaneously composing its soundtrack. As he works, the cinematic agricultural scenes and close-ups of farmers and distillers influence how the music unfolds. The visuals shape the score, and the score shapes the edit.
It’s been rewarding to watch those pieces develop together. With a keyboard, a love for film scores, and an ear for storytelling, Nate is layering instruments and rhythms that give the voiceover and visuals room to breathe, build, and land.
That’s what we’re always working toward: a film that helps you feel the passion of the people we’re illuminating.
